While many Christians knew how to dress professionally for attending an interview or a customer meeting etc, most of the young women ignore the need to wear modestly in churches and other places reflecting Christ in their life. Based on what my wife and I had observed in several churches today, many Christian young women wear dresses that causes unholiness. On several occasions, we were even unable to see those who sing in the front to praise and worship God while their dresses revealing much skin causing greater pollution. Christian women must glorify God in the way they dress. It is neither preached nor taught in most modern churches and pastors never warn them so that they turn from their abominable behavior. In this blog we will look into the topic of wearing appropriate and modest dresses for women which is acceptable to God.
Is your dress a stumbling block?
Rev 2:14 “But I have a few things against you, because you have there those who hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed to idols, and to commit sexual immorality.
Balaam knew it is impossible to curse God’s people when God wants to bless them. Hence, his counsel to Balak was to take away the holiness of God’s people through Midianite women which aroused God’s anger and caused twenty three thousand to die on a single day. Today, many women are following the doctrine of Balaam by placing a stumbling block to holiness of God’s people even within the churches through their revealing dresses without any shame.
Is your breast satisfying someone else?
Prov 5:18-20 Let your fountain be blessed, And rejoice with the wife of your youth. As a loving deer and a graceful doe, Let her breasts satisfy you at all times; And always be enraptured with her love. For why should you, my son, be enraptured by an immoral woman, And be embraced in the arms of a seductress?
If your dress reveals any part of your breasts to satisfy someone else apart from your husband, then you are an immoral and seductress woman. Christians are supposed to cloth those who are naked because of poverty but today, many young Christian women with all their abundance reveal their own nakedness in their dressing without any shame.
Are you wearing to fulfill the lust of flesh?
Rom 13:13-14 Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.
If you dress with lewdness to fulfill the lust of the flesh either in you or in others who see you, you cannot walk properly to put on the Lord Jesus Christ.
Are you dressing modestly?
1Tim 2:9-10 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Paul in his letter to Timothy writes that he want women to dress modestly which is appropriate for those who profess to worship God. Somehow, this modesty is missing in most modern churches today.
Conclusion
Is your dress a stumbling block to God’s people for their holiness, then it is wrong to wear those type of dresses.
Is your dress reveals any of your breast to satisfy other than your husband (or your future husband), then it is wrong to wear those type of dresses.
If you are wearing a dress to fulfill the lust of flesh either in you or in others who see you, then it is wrong to wear those type of dresses.
If you dressing is immodest, then it is wrong to wear those type of dresses.
