How to Pray?
- Pray in secret (Matt 6:6;Mark 1:35;Luke 5:16)
- Pray without repetition and without many words (Matt 6:7)
- Pray with faith that you will receive (Matt 21:22;Mark 11:24)
- Pray without a pretense for making it long (Matt 23:14;Mark 12:40;Luke 20:47). But pray long in private when required (Luke 6:12)
- Forgive others before praying (Matt 6:12; Mark 11:25-26)
- Pray earnestly or always without losing hope (Luke 18:1;Luke 22:44)
- Pray with a humble heart (Luke 18:10-14)
What to Pray?
- Pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you (Matt 5:44;Luke 6:28)
- Pray for God’s kingdom to come (Matt 6:10;Luke 11:2)
- Pray for God’s will to be done (Matt 6:10;Luke 11:2)
- Pray for our daily bread (Matt 6:11;Luke 11:3)
- Pray for forgiveness from sins (Matt 6:12; Mark 11:25-26;Luke 11:4)
- Pray to avoid temptations (Matt 6:13;Luke 11:4;Luke 22:40;Luke 22:46)
- Pray to send laborers into His harvest (Matt 9:38;Luke 10:2)
Model Prayer
Matt 6:9-13 Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
- Father’s name is holy.
- Praise God and glorify Him.
- Thank God for all the blessings we had received.
- Ask for His kingdom to come.
- Pray for missionary activities in the field
- Pray for persecuted Christians
- Pray to send laborers or missionaries into His harvest.
- Pray for others to believe the gospel.
- Ask for His will to happen always in you life.
- His will is always the best choice chose by Him but it may not be our first preference. Hence, it is important we submit ourselves to His will in everything we do.
- Pray for our daily food.
- For some, God had blessed with a good job. However, for many, getting their daily food is an everyday battle. If you have your daily food, then thank God for it.
- Pray for daily food for our spiritual growth.This means, we are pray that we come closer to Christ every day (John 6:35) growing to maturity and perfection (Heb 6:1-2)
- Pray for forgiveness from sins.
- Forgiveness from sins.We may have done anything that displeases Him either knowingly or unknowingly.
- Pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.
- Ask for our protection from temptation.
- Protection from the sins of the world
- Protection to keep our garments undefiled and be holy (Rev 3:4-5).
- Ask for deliverance from evil.
- Deliverance from any sinful addictions.
- Deliverance from any evil that are planned against us.
