Born again Christian is a term so commonly used by many Christians to denote their faith that they trust in Jesus Christ. However, being born again means more than just trusting in Jesus Christ but to be sinless and righteousness.
Who is a born again Christian?
John 8:31-35 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” …. Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin. And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.
Jesus said to those who believed in Him that whoever sins in a slave of sin and they will not abide in His house forever. Only those who are sinless, being free from sins by abiding in His word are His sons, born of God.
1 John 2:29 If you know that He is righteous, you know that everyone who practices righteousness is born of Him. … (3:9-10) Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.
1 Pet 1:22-23 Since you have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit in sincere love of the brethren, love one another fervently with a pure heart, having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever
John and Peter also taught us the same message. Those who are born of God practices righteousness, purify their souls on obeying the truth and they cannot sin. Hence, a born again Christian is not just a person who trusts in Christ like even demons do as James warned but those who obey Him by practicing righteousness and they cannot sin.
If you think that no human can be sinless, then either you reject Christ (who is fully God and fully man) becoming a normal man and living a sinless life or you are still in bondage of sin having no idea what it means to be freed from sins.
Conclusion
Being born again Christian means, not merely trusting in His name, but obeying Him in everything He said. I am saddened by websites like Got Questions who never mention the truth that only those who practice righteousness and those who are free from sins are born of God. You can look into their answer to see the hypocrisy in it who neither mention practicing righteousness nor being sinless. Follow Jesus and His disciples on what He taught, not some answers from any website including this.

John 3:5 states what being Born Again is. Born of the water in baptism and born of the Spirit by recieving the Holy Spirit. This is also found in Acts 2:38 where repentance has to take place first before you can be baptized or filled with the Holy Ghost also known as being born of the water and of the Spirit. Born Again.
John 3:5 doesn’t say born of the Spirit is by recieving the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38 doesn’t say filled with the Holy Ghost is same as born of the Spirit.
John 14:15-16 If you love Me, keep My commandments and I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever.
We need to keep His commandments to receive the Holy Spirit and overcome the word to be born of God (1 John 5:4a).
The problem is with theological garbage taught by many who try so hard using terminologies to reject everything Jesus taught esp., about obedience to His words. When Jesus spoke to His own seven churches through the Spirit, He didn’t care if they are being filled with or baptised by the Holy Spirit but rather if they overcome the world.
