The Future of Gaza

We had a brief look into Israel and Gaza when things escalated back in 2021. Recently, the conflict got escalated again after Hamas attacked Israel. In this post we will revisit the previous post to look into some of the prophecies and explore the future of Gaza strip based on Scriptures.

Israel’s attack on Gaza

It shall come to pass in that day [That] the Lord shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea. He will set up a banner for the nations, And will assemble the outcasts of Israel, And gather together the dispersed of Judah From the four corners of the earth. Also the envy of Ephraim shall depart, And the adversaries of Judah shall be cut off; Ephraim shall not envy Judah, And Judah shall not harass Ephraim. But they shall fly down upon the shoulder of the Philistines toward the west; Together they shall plunder the people of the East; They shall lay their hand on Edom and Moab; And the people of Ammon shall obey them.

Isa 11:11-14

In the previous post, it was mentioned that Israel will attack Gaza. But the truth of the matter is, Israel already attacked and conquered not just Gaza but also the entire Sinai peninsula (contains part of Edom) during the famous six-day war. Hence, Gaza Strip and West-Bank are part of Israel already and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is given authority to self-govern by Israel.

Gaza utterly spoiled and becomes Israelite Pastures

Zeph 2:4 For Gaza shall be forsaken, And Ashkelon desolate; They shall drive out Ashdod at noonday, And Ekron shall be uprooted. Woe to the inhabitants of the seacoast, The nation of the Cherethites! The word of the LORD [is] against you, O Canaan, land of the Philistines: “I will destroy you; So there shall be no inhabitant.” The seacoast shall be pastures, With shelters for shepherds and folds for flocks. The coast shall be for the remnant of the house of Judah; They shall feed [their] flocks there; In the houses of Ashkelon they shall lie down at evening. For the LORD their God will intervene for them, And return their captives.

Zeph 2:5-7

The prophecy clearly states that Gaza will be forsaken (or utterly spoiled as per LXXE). During the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Ashkelon’s and Ashdod’s population fled or expelled and now Israelites dwell there, fulfilling the prophecy.

However, Gaza is not yet given and not yet become Israelite pastures. Hence, we can expect an utter destruction of Gaza and Israelites soon living there and having their pastures.

Possessing lands from Jordan

“I have heard the reproach of Moab, And the insults of the people of Ammon, With which they have reproached My people, And made arrogant threats against their borders. Therefore, as I live,” Says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, “Surely Moab shall be like Sodom, And the people of Ammon like Gomorrah– Overrun with weeds and saltpits, And a perpetual desolation. The residue of My people shall plunder them, And the remnant of My people shall possess them.”

Zeph 2:8-9

The lands of Moab and Ammon, that are east of dead sea and currently part of Jordan will become a perpetual desolation. These are also inheritance of Reuben and Manasseh which Israel hasn’t conquered nor promised by God originally. Israelites will eventually posses them too which hasn’t happened yet. Does this indicate a future war with Jordan?

Conclusion

We are living in the last days and be able to see the fulfillment of several prophecies before our eyes.

  • Gaza will be utterly spoiled
  • Israelites will build pastures in Gaza
  • Israelites will possess lands of Moab and Ammon from Jordan
