We were contacted by a reader of this website to look into Isaiah 24 and 25 for all the things that are happening right now. There are indeed some similarities of what was written long ago and what is happening right now. Hence, it is better for us to meditate and prepare ourselves and know what is about to come if what we are experiencing is indeed from these chapters. In this post, we will explore Isaiah chapter 24.
God’s Plan: Earth is made empty
Behold, the LORD makes the earth empty and makes it waste, Distorts its surface And scatters abroad its inhabitants. And it shall be: As with the people, so with the priest; As with the servant, so with his master; As with the maid, so with her mistress; As with the buyer, so with the seller; As with the lender, so with the borrower; As with the creditor, so with the debtor. The land shall be entirely emptied and utterly plundered, For the LORD has spoken this word. The earth mourns [and] fades away, The world languishes [and] fades away; The haughty people of the earth languish.
Isaiah 24:1-4
Scriptures say that God will do the following to the world:
- Entirely emptied
- Made waste
- Surface distorted
- Inhabitants scattered
- Plundered.
The context of the above verses mostly suggest an emptiness ‘economically’. i.e, utterly plundered which is not referring to death. There is no partiality on who will suffer. Just as the people, the priests will also suffer. Similarly, servant and masters, maid and mistress, buyer and seller, lender and borrower, creditor and debtor — all will suffer economically.
We can see the pandemic literally made the cities empty due to lockdowns and it plundered the wealth of many.
The Reason: Earth is defiled
The earth is also defiled under its inhabitants, Because they have transgressed the laws, Changed the ordinance, Broken the everlasting covenant. Therefore the curse has devoured the earth, And those who dwell in it are desolate. Therefore the inhabitants of the earth are burned, And few men [are] left.
Isaiah 24:5-6
There are three reasons for the curse on the earth:
- Transgressed the laws
- Changed the ordinance
- Broken everlasting covenant
The gentiles were never given the law of Moses. However, there are certain laws expected from all nations. This is the reason for Canaanites being cast out as mentioned in Lev 18:24-27.
- Incest (Lev 18:6-17)
- Marrying multiple sisters (Lev 18:18)
- Approaching woman in customary impurity (Lev 18:19)
- Adultery (Lev 18:20)
- Aborting or kill your own children (Lev 18:21)
- Homosexuality (Lev 18:22)
- Bestiality (Lev 18:23)
The earth has clearly transgressed several of the above laws which God expects from all nations. Many abominations esp., homosexuality is no longer done in secret but publicly allowed and even taught in schools for little children as normal. Anyone speaking against such abominations are persecuted, thus changing ordinances.
The only covenant given by God to all mankind is to Noah and the sign of that covenant is the rainbow. Today, the world had changed the sign of rainbow to something abominable to God.
Therefore a curse shall consume the earth, because the inhabitants thereof have sinned: therefore the dwellers in the earth shall be poor, and few men shall be left.
Isa 24:6 (LXXE)
The Septuagint version, as the scribes understood the verse 3 centuries before Christ, doesn’t say about people being burnt but consumed by the curse. The earth will be poor and only a few men left. The last phrase of the verse does suggest a mass death. Could this be a long term side effect of mass vaccination of the entire earth? We may never know until it happens.
The Curse: Confusion and desolation in cities
They shall not drink wine with a song; Strong drink is bitter to those who drink it. The city of confusion is broken down; Every house is shut up, so that none may go in. [There is] a cry for wine in the streets, All joy is darkened, The mirth of the land is gone. In the city desolation is left, And the gate is stricken with destruction. When it shall be thus in the midst of the land among the people, [It shall be] like the shaking of an olive tree, Like the gleaning of grapes when the vintage is done. They shall lift up their voice, they shall sing; For the majesty of the LORD They shall cry aloud from the sea. Therefore glorify the LORD in the dawning light, The name of the LORD God of Israel in the coastlands of the sea.
Isaiah 24:9-15
The above passage is very similar to lockdowns we are experiencing today. For many, joy is darkened. There is no abundance but like gleaning.
Judgments: No Escape
From the ends of the earth we have heard songs: “Glory to the righteous!” But I said, “I am ruined, ruined! Woe to me! The treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously, Indeed, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. Fear and the pit and the snare [Are] upon you, O inhabitant of the earth. And it shall be [That] he who flees from the noise of the fear Shall fall into the pit, And he who comes up from the midst of the pit Shall be caught in the snare; For the windows from on high are open, And the foundations of the earth are shaken. The earth is violently broken, The earth is split open, The earth is shaken exceedingly. The earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard, And shall totter like a hut; Its transgression shall be heavy upon it, And it will fall, and not rise again.
Isaiah 24:16-20
He who flees from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit and he who comes up from the midst of the pit shall be caught in the snare.
There is certainly a noise of the fear of pandemic today and till date no one knows why many are asymptomatic while a few end-up in hospital and in ICU. For the godly, there is no fear of any pandemic as in Psalms 91:2-6. However, for the ungodly who flees from the fear of the pandemic will fall into the pit. Those who escape the pandemic will fall into the snare of vaccinations that are not properly tested for long term side effects. There will not be a recovery back to normal. It will take a few years to confirm if these passages are indeed referring to the events happening today.
Aftermath: Leaders Imprisoned
It shall come to pass in that day [That] the LORD will punish on high the host of exalted ones, And on the earth the kings of the earth. They will be gathered together, [As] prisoners are gathered in the pit, And will be shut up in the prison; After many days they will be punished. Then the moon will be disgraced And the sun ashamed; For the LORD of hosts will reign On Mount Zion and in Jerusalem And before His elders, gloriously.
Isaiah 24:21-23
The end of it shall be widespread anarchy with leaders of the world imprisoned and punished after many days. If we look into the possibility of this happening in context to the pandemic, if there are widespread adverse vaccine long term side effects and mass deaths, then yes, the people will reject their leaders who not only encouraged but made it mandatory for many.
God’s Mercies are Great
The article may seem anti-vaccination, but we are not against vaccinations. In fact, all our children are vaccinated as per childhood immunisation schedule. But Covid-19 vaccination is very different. Not only the technology used is very new for mass vaccinations (esp., mRNA and Adenovirus vectors), the proper approval time of 10 years1 to fully understand long term side effects are not done.
So Gad came to David and told him; and he said to him, “Shall seven years of famine come to you in your land? Or shall you flee three months before your enemies, while they pursue you? Or shall there be three days’ plague in your land? Now consider and see what answer I should take back to Him who sent me.” And David said to Gad, “I am in great distress. Please let us fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies [are] great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man.”
2 Sam 24:13-15
When David was presented with three choice of punishment for his sin, he took the plague from God. In context with the pandemic, we have Covid-19 from God and untested vaccinations from men. It is better to fall into the hands of the LORD for His mercies are great.
Conclusion
Isaiah 24 could refer to the time period we are currently living in. However, it will take a few years to confirm this.
Never before in history there was:
- A pandemic that covered the entire world.
- A vaccination without proper testing done for the entire world.
- A lockdown that covered the entire world.
And it will be said in that day: “Behold, this [is] our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This [is] the LORD; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.”
Isa 25:9
As in the above passage, God will save those who wait for Him, and will be glad and rejoice in His salvation. Hence, if Isaiah 24 and 25 are referring to events what is happening today, Scriptures asks us to wait on the LORD.
Let your waist be girded and [your] lamps burning; and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately.
Luke 12:35-36
